Erica Cavanagh’s writing has appeared in The Missouri Review, North American Review, Iowa Review, Bellevue Literary Review, Wilson Quarterly, Gastronomica, The Journal, and elsewhere, including two anthologies, Letter to a Stranger: Essays to the Ones Who Haunt Us and Solastalgia: An Anthology of Emotion in a Disappearing World. Her honors include the University of Chicago’s Ruth Murray Prize, the Missouri Review’s Editor’s Prize, an Iowa Arts Fellowship, and a residency at the Millay Colony for the Arts. She teaches nonfiction writing, trauma studies, food studies, and African American Literature at James Madison University, where she directs the Creative Writing Program.
