Getting to Charlottesville

CHO Airport is the official airport of the Virginia Festival of the Book. American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines serve Charlottesville and the surrounding counties with direct connections to six major hubs in Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Washington (Dulles). Rail
Amtrak Service information can be obtained on Amtrak.com. Station hours are from 6:00 AM to 9:30 PM. The local Amtrak station is located at 810 West Main Street, Charlottesville (a few blocks from the Downtown Mall).
Bus
Greyhound Bus Lines reservations and schedules information is available on Greyhound.com. The local Greyhound station is located at 310 West Main Street, Charlottesville (one block from the Downtown Mall).
Getting around in Charlottesville
Walking
All downtown venues are within easy walking distance of each other. Programs at UVa are also within walking distance of downtown (approximately one mile). Further, many hotels that offer free parking for guests are within walking distance of Festival venues.
Bicycles
The University of Virginia offers the UBike bike share program. You may also rent bikes from:

There are bicycle lanes around the Downtown and University areas and on West Main Street, the road between these two areas. All Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) buses are equipped to take bikes and bike racks are available at all major Festival venues. Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) Buses
Public bus service is available in Charlottesville, including a free trolley offering rides between downtown, the Corner, and UVa Grounds. A detailed schedule is available online or via the CAT mobile app. During the Festival, CAT bus guides are available at the information desk in the lobby of the Omni Charlottesville Hotel.
Car Rentals, Limousines, & Taxis
Information about car rentals, limousines, and taxis is available through the Charlottesville-Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Parking
For venues in downtown Charlottesville, there are garages located on Water Street and Market Street as well as some free, on-street parking with a two-hour limit.
For programs on UVa Grounds, it is best to park at the Central Grounds Parking Garage. Parking is $2.50 per hour through the ParkMobile app. Hourly parking is available on the “Corner” (the district adjacent to University Avenue) in municipal garages on Elliewood Avenue, Fourteenth Street, and Wertland Avenue.
