Two southern poets turn to the natural world, finding solace and mystery.

Maurice Manning’s eighth collection Snakedoctor populates the Kentucky countryside with giant visitors and dream-like visions. In his book-length elegy, What the Light Leaves Hidden, Terry Kennedy moves through a southern landscape with tenderness and grief, noting its inhabitants and landmarks.
