Last year, we started a new series of festival preview events. The idea was, in the weeks leading up to the festival, to bring a little taste of the festival to communities outside of Charlottesville. This year, we’re expanding that initiative with nine events happening in almost every corner of the state.

Festival director Kalela Williams sat down with Ali McCue of Staunton Public Library to talk about the festival preview events and why and how book events can help strengthen a community.
