M*A*S*H Star Mike Farrell at
the Virginia Festival of the Book March 29

(Charlottesville, VA…Dec. 3)  The Virginia Festival of the Book is pleased to announce that actor, activist, and author Mike Farrell will appear in a headline event during the 14th annual Virginia Festival of the Book on Saturday, March 29 at 8PM at the Paramount Theater. Admission to this special event is $10.  Underwriters for this special event include the Paramount Theater and Covington Travel.

Best known for his portrayal of Capt. B.J. Hunnicutt on M*A*S*H, Farrell has written a memoir titled Just Call Me Mike: A Journey to Actor and Activist. The author details growing up working-class in the shadows of wealthy Hollywood, overcoming his demons at the start of an acting career, and playing his part in what remains one of the most watched and loved sitcoms in television history.

Farrell recounts his formative years as a Marine recruit, confused, conflicted, and eager to prove himself as a man. Because of M*A*S*H, he began to pursue an interest in politics and human rights that took him to Cambodia, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador. Now, offering first-hand accounts from Somalia, Bosnia, Rwanda, and the Gaza Strip, he has become one of Hollywood’s most outspoken human rights advocates.

Recognized for his work as both an actor and producer, Farrell narrates his public struggle to be a responsible citizen of the world.

Tickets will be available December 17 through the Paramount Box Office (434-979-1333) for $10--the price is the same for all seats. Books will be sold and signed at this event.

Orders placed by phone or internet will have a service charge added. Tickets can also be bought in person at the Paramount 215 E. Main Street, on the downtown mall.
