Jack Trammell, a Randolph-Macon College Professor (Ashland), won CWC 2006 first place award in poetry and second place in fiction. He is known for his Civil War column in The Washington Times and his novels, including a sequel to Treasure Island.

Hilda Ward, Albemarle County Artist-in-Residence, co-facilitates the Curry School's multicultural education program. Host of local TV show "Artistic Expressions" and member of Live Poets, she has 2 CDs (Images and Oh! How I Praise) and poetry in The Blue Ridge Anthology and Streetlight.

Susan Settlemyre Williams is book review editor and associate literary editor of Blackbird. Her work has appeared in Best New Poets 2006, Shenandoah, Mississippi Review, Diner, storySouth, and Sycamore Review, among other journals. Her chapbook Possession is forthcoming.

David Wojahn, author of Interrogation Palace: New and Selected Poems 1982-2004, began his career with the Yale Younger Poets prize-winning collection, Icehouse Lights. An NEA and Guggenheim recipient, he teaches at Virginia Commonwealth University and Vermont College.

Karenne Wood's Markings on Earth won the Diane Decorah First Book Award from the Native Writers' Circle of the Americas. She holds a gubernatorial appointment as Chair of the Virginia Council on Indians and is completing a Ph.D. in linguistic anthropology at UVa.

Kevin Young (For the Confederate Dead) has four previous collections of poetry. Jelly Roll was a finalist for the National Book Award and won the Paterson Poetry Prize. A Guggenheim and NEA fellowship recipient, he teaches at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
