On Saturday March 25 more than 30 exhibitors will be available at the Omni Hotel as part of Publishing Day and Vendors Book Fair.

Rosamond Casey is a visual artist whose work is in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art and the rare books collection of the Library of Congress. She is past president of the McGuffey Art Center. (See Related Events: 3/26 3 p.m.)

Faith Childs is President of the Faith Childs Literary Agency in New York City. A former attorney, she has been an agent for two decades. The agency represents many award-winning writers of both fiction and nonfiction. 3/24 10 a.m.; 3/25 4 p.m.

Angela Leigh Daniel (“Silver Star”) is a graphic designer and a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology at the College of William and Mary. The late Chief of the Mattaponi tribe, Webster Little Eagle Custalow, gave Angela the name “Silver Star.” 3/22 4 p.m.

Rick Dixon has published four books of translation of plays, three of which have been produced. He is the owner of the independent bookstore Chatham Books and has been active in the Virginia literary scene for many years. 3/22 6 p.m.

James Fitzgerald is a literary agent in New York. He deals predominantly with pop culture fiction and non-fiction. He is a former editor at St. Martin's Press, Doubleday and The New York Times. 3/25 2 p.m.

Pete Freas is impresario for the extensive program of readings, events, and publications organized by the Chesapeake Bay Poets. Publisher of the Skipping Stones anthology of regional poetry, he has extensive knowledge of promoting writing events and working with writers. 3/22 6 p.m.

Bill Gladstone, literary agent, founded Waterside Productions in 1982 as a video production studio and literary agency. Bill agented the first 2500 books the agency sold including best-selling authors ranging from Dan Gookin, Peter Norton, Danny Goodman, Alan Simpson, and John Levine to Infomercial guru Kevin Trudeau. 3/25 4 p.m.


Robert Gray owns Fresh Eyes Now, a publishing consulting and marketing company. Former bookseller at Northshire Bookstore in Manchester, Vermont, he writes the industry blog Fresh Eyes: A Bookseller’s Journal. His work has appeared in Tin House, Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine, and Publishers Weekly. 3/25 10 a.m.


Deborah Grosvenor, a former editor who acquired Tom Clancy’s first novel, has been in publishing for more than two decades. She represents fiction, narrative nonfiction, history, biography, politics, current affairs, memoir, self-help, science, humor, and anything Southern. Her clients include Eleanor Clift, Tom Oliphant, Mort Kondracke, and Susan McDougal. 3/25 4 p.m.

Mary Ann Hall is a senior acquisitions editor for Rockport Publishers (Quarry Books). Quarry books are beautifully designed, illustrated reference books on topics from cooking and crafts, to nature, animals, home enjoyment and improvement and a range of other subjects for the enthusiast market. 3/25 2 p.m.

Jeff Kleinman is a literary agent and intellectual property attorney with offices in New York and Washington, D.C. His clients include bestselling authors Robert Hicks (Widow of the South) and Ron McLarty (The Memory of Running). 3/25 noon, 4 p.m.


Tim Lewis is an author of seven books, including history (The Human Shield and Moonlight Sonata), short stories and poetry (Assembly Lines and Coventry Voices), a novel (Pisspote's Progress), and philosophy (You Are All). Simon Lipskar is an agent at Writers House, a literary agency in New York. He represents a wide range of writers, including major authors in literary and commercial fiction, narrative nonfiction, and young adult fiction. 3/25 10 a.m., 4 p.m.

Mayapriya Long owns Bookwrights Design, an award-winning book design and production studio in Nelson County. With 20+ years in the book industry, she held just about every position in publishing before starting her own book design firm in 1993. She is the Publishing Day Committee Chairperson. 3/25 2 p.m.

Catharine Lynch is Vice President, Associate Publisher of G. P. Putnam's Sons, which is a division of Penguin Group (USA) Inc. A veteran of the publishing industry for more than twenty-two years, she began her career at The Johns Hopkins University Press. 3/25 10 a.m.

Allyson Mellberg’s work can be found in collections including the Milwaukee Art Museum and La Maison Rouge in Paris. She is a member of Booklyn, a consensus-governed, artists and bookmakers organization. (See Related Events: 3/17 5:30 p.m.)

Christopher Morris, a contributor to Tough Times Companion II, is a photographer who lives in the Shenandoah Valley. His work has been published in Albemarle Magazine, Sacred Bearings, and international photography journals. 3/22 4 p.m.

Trisha Orr is a painter exhibiting at Les Yeux Du Monde Gallery throughout the festival. Her precisely-rendered, colorful still-life paintings of art books, images from Botticelli, Giorgione, VanGogh, and Modigliani congregate and converge from kaleidoscopic angles, mischievously transformed by clear glass vases. Eugene Schwartz is Editor at Large of ForeWord, a magazine about books of independent publishers and university presses. A former Publishers Marketing Association board member, he is an observer and commentator on publishing trade association developments, independent publishing, electronic publishing, and distribution trends. 3/25 noon


Bella Stander conducts Book Promotion 101 workshops for authors and serves on the VABook! program committee. Formerly a contributing editor at Publishers Weekly, she has also written for such publications as Entertainment Weekly, People, The Wall St. Journal and The Washington Post. 3/24 2 p.m.; 3/25 noon, 2 p.m.

Nicholas Weir-Williams, with almost 30 years in publishing industry, has worked for large and small publishers on three continents, been President of the Publishers Marketing Association, published a number of major prizewinners including a Nobel and National Book Award winner and has just published his first book, Encyclopedia Idiotica. 3/25 9 a.m., 2 p.m.

Boyd Zenner is the acquiring editor for architecture and environmental studies at the University of Virginia Press. 3/25 2 p.m.
