VABook! Festival Vision:

The Virginia Festival of the Book, produced by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, is an annual celebration of books, reading, writing, the printed word and its emerging technologies. Reading, writing, and the printed word are tools for accessing knowledge, instruments for communication, and means for reflection and recreation -- essential to the health of our nation, the strength of its communities, and the happiness of its citizens. Through reading and writing we tell our stories, share our lives, and contemplate our future. We undertake this annual celebration, which is free and open to the public, to engage Charlottesville/Albemarle, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the nation, in a festival to promote literacy and celebrate the book.
