Corrections and Cancellations
The Virginia Festival of the Book maintains a list of up-to-date corrections and cancellations of VABook! events to keep our audience aware of any unforeseen changes in the program. Feel free to check this page before and during the festival for updates.
The following authors, advertised in the last few months, have informed us
they can no longer attend the Festival:
- William Hoffman (previously scheduled for 3/26 at 6 p.m.)
- Paula White Jackson (previously scheduled for 3/27 at 10 a.m.)
- Gretel Ehrlich (previously scheduled for 3/27 at 8 p.m.)
- Rupert Holmes (previously scheduled for 3/27 12 p.m. –
4 p.m.)
- Stuart Eizenstat (previously scheduled for 3/27 at 2 p.m.)
- Billy Clark (previously scheduled for 3/26 at 2 p.m.)
- Dorothy Height (previously scheduled for 3/26 at 2 p.m.)
- N.M. Kelby (previously scheduled for 3/26 at 12 p.m.)
- Joseph Blotner (previously scheduled for 3/26 at 12 p.m.)
- Tony Ruggiero (previously scheduled for 3/26 at 6 p.m.)

The following programs have been cancelled:

The following programs have been issued new venues:

Hall Theater (not Ballroom)
- The Strange Careers of Nat Turner and Henry Box Brown,

- The Shock of Defeat: Confederates in the Wake of Appomattox: Garry Gallagher,
3/27 at 2 p.m. NEW VENUE: Newcomb Hall Theater (not Ballroom)
- Agents: Do I Need One? 3/27 at 4 p.m. NEW VENUE: Central
Library, McIntire Room.
- Crime Wave: Mystery and Suspense Programs. All day Saturday at the Omni. Some room assignments for panels have shifted; please consult website to be sure of the room assignment, or ask a volunteer on site to help you.
The following panels are still on, but will proceed with the following participant substitutions:
- Trans-scription: Writing the Opposite Sex. Readings and discussions about
crafting believable characters with authors Jiro Adachi (The Island of the Bicycle
Dancers), Aimee Liu (Flash House), and Carrie Brown (Confinement). Moderated by Bella
Stander.
- Writing Children's Books: A Panel. With youth authors Elise Carbone (Storm Warriors), Gerald Hausman (The Boy from Nine Miles: The Early Life of Bob Marley), and Myron Uhlberg (The Printer, Flying over Brooklyn).
