The Virginia Festival of the Book presents Richard Leider, best-selling author and consultant, as speaker for its annual Business Breakfast on Wednesday, March 24 at 7:30 a.m.
Mr. Leider is founder of the Inventure Group, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he advises thousands of people worldwide each year and has served as a consultant for more than a hundred corporations, including 3M, American Express, Pfizer, the Mayo Clinic and Northwestern Mutual. He is the author of five books, including three bestsellers and his work has been translated in 15 languages. The Inventurers, Repacking Your Bags, The Power of Purpose and Whistle While You Work are considered classics in the career development field.

A nationally certified Master Career Counselor, Richard also holds a master's degree in counseling. He is a faculty member of the University of Minnesota Carlson Schools Executive Development Center. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including being named by the Minnesota Career Development Association as one of the top 10 most influential people in the career development field in the past 50 years. His work also received recognition from the Bush Foundation, where he was awarded a Bush Fellowship to study "the power of purpose." Along with his professional pursuits, Richard leads yearly Inventure Expeditions in East Africa, where he helped found the Dorobo Fund for leadership and conservation. He passionately believes that each of us is born with purpose and that his calling is to help people uncover that purpose.
